About Us 1

A life of humble beginnings, far from the glitz and glamour of the fashion industry, JACQUETTA SYETTE was born - a black woman-led fashion brand.

Hailing from Bastrop, Louisiana, fashion and I were a very unlikely pair. I had limited drawing skills, couldn’t sew, and my fashion choices were questionable. I was a small town country girl hyper focused on cheerleading and academics.

Starting LSU as a first generation college student, choosing a path didn’t come without challenges. But while working at Charlotte Russe, my interest in fashion developed. From there I was equipped with a sewing machine and fueled by fashion and later graduated with a degree in Apparel Design.

I moved to New York in July 2014. My brand took shape in my Brooklyn basement apartment in 2016 and it’s been one hell of a ride.

I’ve had the opportunity to work with amazing photographers, models and stylists. I’ve had my designs featured on a small magazine cover. I’ve submitted pieces to be featured on national syndicated TV shows. But the most notable experience to date is showing at New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2016, 2017 and 2023.

Over time I’ve developed our signature look and aesthetic: luxe, sexy and transitional. In addition to offering beautiful clothes, giving back to the community through scholarship is one of our leading core values.

Join us as we embark on this journey to take up space as the creators and movers for the culture, as the leading black woman owned fashion brand in the industry.
